The South Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal (State Fire) plays an important role in statewide emergency operations. State Fire maintains several positive relationships to ensure public and responder safety in South Carolina.
Our office is active with the Firefighter Mobilization program, the Oversight Committee, as well as the Hazardous Materials Working Group. We serve as advisors on several Emergency Management Division working groups and several State Law Enforcement Division groups to include the Homeland Security Advisory Council.
State Fire (as a representative of the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation) serves as the primary Emergency Support Function (ESF) agency for structural firefighting and urban search and rescue. We also participate in state level support functions for public health and hazardous materials.
