Quarterly Training Opportunities

The Community Risk Reduction Section offers continuing education each quarter for those interested in fire code enforcement. There are no pre-requisites for these classes. Information concerning upcoming classes and online registration can be found here. Please search for course code 8506. If you have trouble registering, please contact the Fire Academy directly at (803) 896-9810.
The topic for the first quarter (Jan-March) of 2014 will be a “Fire Code Casserole”. The intent of this session is to cover current “hot topics” in the South Carolina fire code community. Topics will include:
            Tire Storage
            High Piled Storage
            Rack Storage
            Traffic Calming Devices
            Carbon Monoxide Detection
            Occupant Load Calculations
            Crowd Management

The topic for the second quarter of 2014 (April-June) will be LP gas installation inspections and will include a “hands on” component.
