Firefighter Registration: Online SLED Criminal Background Check Request

Instructions:

  • Click on the new Fire Portal
  • Insert your userid and password.
  • Once signed in, scroll to the bottom of the “home” page. Click on “Hire a new firefighter (SLED Check).”

If you need to gain access, please email Contact.Fireonline@llr.sc.gov and provide your preferred email address and the appropriate FDID (or name of the fire department).

A: Office of the State Fire Marshal

Q: Is this a national database check or SLED only?
A: SLED provides only a statewide check.

Q: How can I get a nationwide check?
A: You may request a nationwide check, at your own expense, from the appropriate authority. For example, the FBI offers a criminal background check.

Fire Equipment Dealers and Employees

ATTENTION

IMPORTANT 2019 - 2021 RENEWAL INFORMATION FOR FIRE EQUIPMENT DEALER LICENSE AND FIRE EQUIPMENT EMPLOYEE PERMIT HOLDERS CONCERNING CHANGE IN RENEWAL CYCLE DATE (CLICK LINK TO VIEW LETTER)

Fire Equipment Dealer Licenses and Fire Equipment Employee Permits now renew biennially and expire on April 30 of each odd year, regardless of the date they were issued. All current licenses and permits showing expiration date of January 31, 2019 will now expire at midnight on April 30, 2019 (when accompanied with letter provided above).

ALL CURRENT FIRE EQUIPMENT DEALERS AND EMPLOYEES WILL RECEIVE A YELLOW POST CARD IN THE MAIL ANNOUNCING WHEN THE 2019 – 2021 RENEWAL PERIOD OPENS.

The 2019 – 2021 Initial/Renewal Dealer License fee is $200 for each dealer location, and $50 for each permitted employee.

License and permit fees must be paid by check or money order, made payable to the State of South Carolina. CREDIT CARDS ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTED FOR INITIAL OR RENEWAL LICENSES OR PERMITS. Incomplete application packages will be returned to the applicant without processing.

Please be advised that this list represents Manufacturer’s cigarettes that have been certified as  Fire Standards Compliant and should not be confused with the Attorney General’s Tobacco Directory.   The Attorney General’s Tobacco Directory should be utilized to identify legal cigarette products for sale in South Carolina.  It is unlawful to sell, offer, acquire, hold, own, possess, transport, import or cause to be imported, for sale in this State, or to import for personal consumption ANY brand or cigarette product not listed on the AttorneyGeneral’s Tobacco Directory pursuant to S.C. Code Ann. § 11-48-10, et seq.
